Happy International Coffee Day!

In honour of my favourite day of the year (okay, second favourite – October 24 is still very special to me) I thought I’d share a list of my favourite coffee shops in London. Coffee has always played an important role in my life, and while the industry is full of pitfalls, I think coffee inspires some great moments between people. It certainly has for me.

Favourite London Coffee Shops

“I like my women like I like my coffee… in a plastic cup.” -Eddie Izzard (Dress to Kill)

1. Somewhere Over Knowhere – Kentish Town: This gem above the renowned cocktail bar has great brunch and lovely pastries, but also a great atmosphere. Hang out for ages on a sofa or grab a quick bite at the high-bar by the window.

“I’d rather take coffee than compliments just now.” – Louisa May Alcott (Little Women)

2. Leya’s – Camden: Being right next door to my internship, this coffee shop is a go-to for high quality coffee and great sandwiches.

“They glared at her the way any intelligent persons ought to glare when what they need is a smoke, a bite, a cup of coffee, a piece of ass, or a good fast-paced story, and all they’re getting is philosophy.” Tom Robbins (Still Life with Woodpecker)

3. Craving Coffee – Seven Sisters: Near my old neighbourhood, this warehouse coffee shop boasts amazing breakfast baps, decadent desserts, and a great environment with a rotating gallery of images that are always a conversation starter.

“Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee?” Albert Camus

4.  Look Mum No Hands! – Old Street: I’ve used their old street location to do lots of work on my book. Complete with sockets, WiFi, great food, and not too-intrusive music, they’re a great place to hunker down for an afternoon and get some serious writing done.
