Ariel Pink: pom pom – The Metropolist

Take Lou Reed and coat him in candy-floss, over saturate with Technicolor, and you’ve got pom pom, the solo release by Ariel Pink. The slightly alien pom pom is a peculiar mash-up of genre and style that somehow manages to be coherent. Opener Plastic Raincoats In The Pig Parade is as absurd as it sounds, but with an indie pop undertone and Pink’s particular vocal mannerisms, the song veers away from off-putting and manages to make it to endearing.
